I watched as Brax stormed out of the room with his box. I couldn’t help but think that Brax was seeking attention, and I had no idea why he would want the attention of a man like Aston. They were brothers, but they couldn’t be more different. Aston was calm and collected, while Brax was hot-headed and impulsive. I wondered what had driven Brax to this point, what had made him want to hurt his brother so badly.
As they left, I couldn’t help but wonder if Aston was doing okay. He had just been betrayed by his brother and his mate. I could see the pain and shock written all over his face, and I knew I had to go to him.
I walked over to him, concern etched on my face. “Aston, are you okay?” I asked, trying to keep my voice gentle.
He looked up at me, his eyes empty. “I don’t know, Kira,” he said, his voice barely above a whisper. “I just don’t know.”
I sat down next to him, putting a hand on his shoulder. “What happened?” I asked, trying to get him to talk as if I didn’t already know everything and more.
Aston shook his head. “Brax and Mara… they’re together. And she’s pregnant with his child.”
Aston shrugged. “I don’t know. I thought Mara loved me, but I guess I was wrong.”
I wanted to rejoice especially knowing what Aston out me through but I couldn’t.
As we sat there in silence, I couldn’t help but think about Brax’s motives. Why would he want to hurt his brother like this? And why would he want Mara, who was clearly unhappy with him? I didn’t understand it, and I didn’t think I ever would.
“I know this will make you happy,” he said, his voice dripping with sarcasm. “And I don’t blame you…”
This doesn’t make me happy. I’m not a monster.” I told him and he shrugged.
“Well, I guess I’m the monster then.” He answered and I couldn’t disagree.
And then, out of nowhere, he apologized. “I’m sorry for hitting you, Kira.”
I was taken aback. This was the first time I had ever heard Aston apologize to me. It felt weird, like a foreign language.
I didn’t know what to say, so I did the only thing I could think of – I ran away. I turned and fled, leaving Aston standing there alone.
As I ran, I couldn’t shake the feeling of unease. What had just happened? Why had Aston apologized after all this time?
I didn’t stop running until I reached my room, where I collapsed on the bed, trying to catch my breath. My mind was racing, trying to make sense of it all.
But the more I thought about it, the more confused I became. Why had Aston apologized?
I lay there for what felt like hours, trying to make sense of it all. But the more I thought about it, the more questions I had.
Eventually, exhaustion took over, and I fell asleep.
I walked into the dining room, carrying a tray of food. It was time to serve dinner, and I was dreading it. I had been trying to avoid Aston all day, but I knew I couldn’t avoid him forever.
As I approached the table, I saw Aston sitting there, staring at his plate. He looked so sąd, and my heart went out to him. I had never seen him like this before.
I set the tray down and tried to make a quick escape, but Aston caught my arm. “Kira, please, join me,” he said, his voice soft.
I hesitated, not wanting to make eye contact. I had been trying to avoid him all day, and now he wanted me to sit with him? But something in his eyes made me stay.Ccontent © exclusive by Nô/vel(D)ra/ma.Org.
“Okay,” I said, sitting downs across from him.
We ate in silence for a while, the only sound the clinking of utensils on plates. I couldn’t help but weak fances at haton, who was staring at his food like it was the most interesting thing he had ever seen.
Finally, he spoke up. “Kira, I’m so sorry,” he said, his voice cracking,
I looked up, surprised. “Sorry for what?” I asked.
Aston sighed. “For everything” I didn’t know what his intentions were for apologuing, but it was a welcome change.
I shook my head and lied that it was okay, I knew he was just saying all of this because he was down
I squeezed his arm. “I know,” I said. “Getting cheated on can be really traumatizing, I would know
As Aston moved his seat closer to mine, I felt a wave of nervousnew wash over me. The close distance between us made me sweaty and anxious, and I couldn’t help but panic. His breath was hot against my face as he spoke, and I felt like I was suffocating.
I tried to calm myself down, to rationalize that Aston was just trying to have a convertation, but my body wouldn’t listen. My heart was racing, my palms were sweating, and my mind was screaming at me to get out of there.
And so I did. I pushed my chair back and ran out of the room, leaving Aston sitting there looking confused and concerned.
I didn’t stop running until I reached my room, where 1 collapsed on the bed, trying to catch my breath. I couldn’t believe I had panicked like that. I couldn’t believe I had let my fear get the best of me.
I was still trying to catch my breath when I heard a knock on the door. It wasn’t hard to guess who it was. What was hard was trying to get my heart to say still and shut the f***k up.
