Chapter 224
Chapter 224
Jerome was able to guess the reason behind Mikayla’s furrowed brows.
He called Mike and ordered him to buy some digestive pills and stomach medicine at any nearby
pharmacy.
Mikayla couldn’t help but be reminded of her previous life.
She occasionally had gastric pain from excessive eating.
Jerome was home one night, and she was bringing some milk over to him when the pain suddenly struck
her.
Her face paled, and she almost spilled the milk. He didn’t even bother to ask what happened. Instead, he
reprimanded her to get out of his room. Material © of NôvelDrama.Org.
Yet, Jerome noticed her discomfort when she barely made a sound earlier. He even took the initiative to buy her medicine.
Well, it was indeed possible for men to learn how to be caring. They’d only use carelessness as an excuse
for a lack of love.
In fact, Mikayla did notice the change in his attitude. He did care much more for her compared to her previous life.
Though she was firm about the divorce, she no longer felt the need to hate him. He didn’t turn a blind eye
to Kylie’s schemes, and he does care about her.
“What’s wrong? Are you still feeling uncomfortable? Do you need to go to the hospital?” Jerome approached her and asked.
She shook her head, replying, “No.”
Just then, she saw Mike walking out.
He was wearing a jacket as he held onto his car keys. She presumed that he was about to go to the pharmacy for her medicine.
“Mr. Ashford,” she called out to him.
Mike crumbled when he saw Mikayla.
He vividly remembered how hostile Jerome looked yesterday when he was reporting to him.
He’d racked his brains, desperately trying to recall every single thing he’d done ever since he entered the company. Nonetheless, his effort to find out how he offended Jerome was in vain.
It wasn’t until Jerome had finally asked him, “What will happen if you were hit by a wine bottle?”
Although he’d felt bewildered and answered guardedly. “I’ll… be injured?”
“Will the person who’s trying to shield you from the bottle be injured as well?” Jerome had glared at him.
Mike was utterly perplexed.
He mustered up his courage and asked, “Who’s that person?”
“Mikayla,” Jerome had replied
He was completely flabbergasted and dropped all his documents in an instant.
He’d almost knocked over Jerome’s tea cup as he spluttered, “M–Mr. Miller, there’s no way for Mrs. Miller
to.”
“Don’t you ever show up in front of her again!” Jerome snapped. “Avoid her at all costs!”
Mike had obeyed without a word.
He knew Mikayla was coming to the company trip, so he tried his best to recede.
He avoided the pools and several hot springs women frequented. He even hid from her during meals.
How did she still manage to see him?
“Yes, Mrs. Miller?” he answered stiffly.
“Give me the car keys. I’ll head over to the pharmacy on my own, so you don’t have to go in my stead,” Mikayla said.
Mike chanced a glance at Jerome.
Noticing that his expression darkened, he blurted out, “Mrs. Miller, you aren’t familiar with the roads here.
Let me go instead.”
“It’s fine. I need to buy other stuff as well,” Mikayla said.
“I can bring them back for you.”
“No need. I’ll do so on my own.”
As Mike was pondering on whether he should insist, Jerome finally spoke, “Give me the car keys. You can
leave now.”
“Alright!”
